In 2008, 1st Thurstaston Scout Group was 75 years old. Appropriately, the day chosen to celebrate this milestone was Wednesday 5th November when a bonfire party was held at our headquarters.
Estimated attendance was near 200 people and included current members and parents, past members, ex leaders and District officers. We were also fortunate to welcome 2 of the original members, John Tate and Ken Buxton, who joined the group in 1933.
We also took the opportunity to invest 5 scouts and 4 cubs which made the evening even more memorable.
The children tucked into hot dogs, crisps, and juice while the adults enjoyed cheese and wine. One of the highlights of the evening was a spectacular bonfire and firework display with plenty of whooshes, bangs, ooohs and arrrhs.
Thanks to all who attended and all who worked so hard to create a fantastic and memorable evening.
